Turns out they are not needed for our application. Would like to return them.

Customer service was very helpful. sent the required number of spacers for the rail I purchased for a nominal fee. Spacers matched the rail hardware and allowed the barn doors to clear my existing door casings and base boards.

The spacers were installed yesterday on our barn door. They are working perfectly.
